About This Project
The owners wanted a complete makeover of their kitchen. Their wish was a friendly and functional kitchen, that included a space for guests to get involved in discussions while they were cooking.
The space is divided in 3 areas: the working/preparing area, the cooking area and the sitting area. As the kitchen space is quite big and the hallway very narrow, Studio Small suggested to use the sitting area for additional storage space for cleaning material and shoes that do not fit into the small wardrobe and clutter up the hallway. A higher counter is designed to create a visual break between the cooking/preparing and sitting area. This way the mess in the cooking area is hidden from the guests view, creating extra storage in the front part of the counter.
White is chosen as a main colour to leave the space bright and welcoming. The wooden accents add warmth to the design and make it very friendly and inviting. The finishing touches are the tiles that the clients had left from their bathroom renovation. They create a beautiful and graphical eye catcher in the working area and give the kitchen a very personal touch.
